Temperature range
Climatic chamber examination – selected models of sleeping bags from each collection were tested in the Weiss climate chamber on a complex 16-element DIANA dummy (in accordance with the European standard PN-EN 23537-2004). The following temperatures were determined in this way: T max, T comf, T lim, T min. Then, based on the test results, the temperature ranges of all Fjord Nansen sleeping bags were calculated, thanks to which we minimize the risk of purchasing the wrong sleeping bag by the customer. Before choosing, you should ask yourself how do you feel cold and take this fact into account when choosing a specific model. In most cases, you should choose a slightly warmer model than previously assumed.
Temperature Range according to standard EN 23537 – refers to a standard male and a standard female with moderate effort. ATTENTION! Occasionally the feeling of cold may be different – depending on a person. The way you feel cold is also influenced by factors such as: fatigue, hunger, malaise, earlier hypothermia, age, metabolism, thickness of adipose tissue, etc.
- Upper comfort limit (T max) – the temperature at which the “standard man” does not sweat and excessive temperature does not disturb his sleep.
- Comfort (T comf) – the temperature at which a person is in thermal equilibrium and does not feel cold. This value applies to the “standard” full woman after moderate effort. Women should be guided by this parameter when choosing a sleeping bag.
- Limit temperature (T lim) – the lowest temperature at which the “standard man” can sleep comfortably. Men should be guided by this parameter when choosing a sleeping bag.
- Extreme temperature (T min) – exceeding this value causes the risk of hypothermia and means conditions in which it is possible to survive up to six hours (parameter based on the feelings of an “average woman”). This temperature should not be taken into account when buying a sleeping bag.
- T max temperature: 16 °C
- T comf temperature: 1°C
- T lim temperature: -5 °C
- Extreme temperature (T min): -22 °C
Description
One of the most popular sleeping bags – TROMS, in the new size XL Wide for those who value comfort and space. To meet the users’ questions, we decided to create a model with an extended shoulder profile. So now the width measured at the widest point is 95 cm.
Awarded with the “Good Choice” title by the TRAVEL magazine. One of the most practical temperature ranges, ie comfort around 0°C, depending on gender and private feeling of temperature. Makes Troms suitable for travel almost all year round. Compact when rolled up , filled with warm MICROFILL Super-Therm fleece will take care of your thermal comfort during a cool night.
The ANTI-BITE system, which we use in our sleeping bags, is a specially designed 3 cm, stiffened tape that facilitates fastening the zipper.
10 washes test – wanting to additionally check the parameters of our sleeping bags, such as the strength of the filling (clumping, movement), resistance to washing, thermal stability in a given period of time, we decided to carry out the 10 washes test (with spinning of course). The test results of the MICROFILL Super-Therm nonwoven fabric exceeded our expectations. It turned out that the sleeping bag retained its thermal parameters, and the nonwoven fabric did not change its thickness and elasticity.
Remember to store the sleeping bag unfolded or in a storage bag, never hidden in a compression bag. Thanks to proper storage, it will be just as warm all the time.
